Over 120 experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from eight countries—China, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Japan—exchanged in-depth views on areas such as gene editing, molecular breeding, and high technic cultivation of flowers.
Shandong is a major potted flower production base in China, with Qingzhou City serving as the largest production and trading center for potted flowers in the country. The brand value of Qingzhou's flower industry has reached 34 billion yuan, with Phalaenopsis, bromeliads, anthuriums, and Cymbidium being the main crops. In April this year, Qingzhou successfully hosted the first Tropical Plant Exhibition, attracting exhibitors from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and other countries and regions.
Multiple cooperation agreements were signed during the conference, including the establishment of a joint laboratory for flower breeding innovation. After the conference, participants visited potted flower production bases and Phalaenopsis enterprises in Vietnam, engaging in in-depth exchanges on flower cultivation techniques, greenhouse equipment upgrades, logistics and trade, and pest and disease quarantine.
