As it’s getting warmer across China, the floriculture & horticulture markets also begin to see signs of post-epidemic recovery. Here are partial hot news this April presented to you by the organizer of Flower Expo China.

Ø In recent year, as local governments across China are proposing smoke-free tomb sweeping, cut flowers become the hottest option for worshiping ancestors. This year’s Qingming Festival, a cemetery in Jiangxi Province prepared 5000 fresh chrysanthemum blossoms to give out to tomb sweepers for free. A florist in Jilin Province also sold near 400 bouquets around the holiday, a 30% increase versus last year.

Ø By the end of this March, 32 enterprises in the Yunnan Flower Demonstration Park have resumed production amid epidemic prevention. As one of the most important industry park in Yunnan, it yearly produces 1224 million yuan worth of flowers, 44% of which are exported to 20+ countries and regions.

Ø With offline sales crippled by Covid-19, Chinese floral retailers switch to live-streaming for online promotion. During the epidemic lockdown, followers on Heyder’s Garden’s Douyin account (the Chinese version of TikTok) increased by 500,000. KARCHER’s hottest video on Douyin has over 4 million views.

Ø To help industry get through the Covid-19 crisis, Fujian Province has been giving out financial aids to floral enterprises since March, such as subsidies for cargo transportation, destroyed flowers, and grower insurances, rent cuts for 3 months, extended loan due dates, and etc.

Ø The 2020 China International Floriculture & Horticulture Trade Fair (Flower Expo China) has been recently postponed to this August 4th-6th. Co-located with The 12th Asia Forestry & Garden Machinery & Tools Fair (GMF 2020), the show expects to received over 200 brands from China, Japan, Italy, Ecuador, the Netherlands, Germany, and etc.
