The ornamental value of Melastoma
Melastoma has high ornamental value. The flowers are large, numerous and dense, and the flowers are purple, delicate and beautiful. Plant shape is beautiful, leaves are not only green but also with luxuriant foliage. It blooms all the year round.

The popularization and application of  Melastoma

Legend of Melastoma 
 
There is also a popular folklore about  melastoma.
According to legend, there was a girl in the Qing Dynasty who loved to wear purple clothes, she fell in love with Wang Liu of the Han nationality. Mei Jia is the Gaoshan nationality, their different nationality leading to their love is not accepted, and they finally decided to elope for love. Waiting for the lover under the camphor tree, Mei Jia was unfortunately killed by lightning,  she left her broken purple clothes fragments.
 
Later, in the place where MeiJia died, a beautiful purple flower blossomed, and it is believed that MeiJia was waiting for her lover here.
 
The production of melastoma
There are about 4000 species of melastoma in the world, which are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, with the largest number in the Americas.
There are 160 wild species in China and 64 wild species in Guangdong Province, of which 2 are endemic. Guangzhou has established the only national germplasm resource bank of melastoma in China, with more than 70 species collected and preserved.
 
The original of melastoma itself is unknown in the mountains. After Guangzhou introduced it into the city, it took the lead in cultivating 6 new varieties of melastoma with intellectual property rights, such as "Tianjiao" and "aspiration", realizing "zero breakthrough" in the cultivation of new varieties of melastoma in China and promoting the development and utilization of native plants.
