Impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak, many Chinese cut flower growers and florists have decided to skip Valentines’ Day this year.

It’s been reported that this February 10th, more than 1 million cut flowers were destroyed by Yunnan growers. In Kunming Dounan Flowers Market, the biggest floral market in Asia, the sales and supplies are less than half of that during the same period last year. Wholesales prices have also dropped 2/3 or more.

However, with high hope for the future, many growers have picked themselves up and begun to prepare for the next peak seasons. Even before the Chinese New Year, many growers in Yunnan have destroyed the flowers they initially planted for February, to make space for a new batch of flowers grown for this Mothers’ Day, and the two Chinese Valentines’ Days, which are “5·20” and Qixi Festival.

To provide better business opportunities for our exhibitors, Flower Expo China 2020 has also moved its date to May. Exhibitors will be able to enjoy our nationwide promotion right before the high season!
